The Client
A top New England multi-specialty, primary care practice, located in Greater Boston, is a group of more than 60 physicians and operates in multiple locations through the area. It has area’s top medical professionals with concentrations in areas such as Cardiology, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology and Sleep Medicine. It is the recipient of multiple awards and has been recognized by Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set as having 4 stars (highest rating) in areas such as quality of care, access to care and member satisfaction.
The Challenge
The client is a rapidly growing practice. New laboratories, new doctors and new specialties are all technology dependant. This rapid growth lead to a unstable network environment. In addition, the Client was utilizing Citrix XenApp as the presentation layer for all of its applications, and was experiencing significant downtime, corporation-wide printing issues and other problems that lead to a general dissatisfaction with the service levels. Furthermore,the Client was in the selection process for an EMR system and planned on rolling it out to the entire practice in record short time frames.
The Solution
The Client teamed up with StratusPointIT to provide it with a full IT outsourcing and IT management service. StratusPointIT, through its’ Complete IT outsourcing package, was able to streamline the healthcare IT support process and greatly improve and speed up the response times. StratusPointIT’s engineering department, in conjunction with Citrix, brought in Citrix XenServer as the virtualization platform, as well as Netscaler Load Balancers, and completely re-architected the Citrix XenApp environment. Furthermore, the core network infrastructure was rebuilt to include redundancy. StratusPointIT was also instrumental in helping with Enterprise EHR rollout to all providers across different modalities of the practice. In addition, StratusPointIT participates in high-level meetings to provide CIO strategy, budgeting, and cost cutting measures.
The Results
Officers, managers and users are now happy with their IT. They are getting the response they need, as fast as they need it. Networks are up, and applications are being delivered to users with no downtime. Through innovative cost cutting measures, StratusPointIT was able to save the client close to $100,000 of savings in the first year of service. And, the Client is able to move into the digital age of healthcare with their new EHR system.
