The Client
The Client, founded in 1996, is an independent cable service provider operating in the Midwest and Southeast United States, with over 7 million subscribers, and one of the top 10 cable TV providers in the country. The company also offers land-line phone and ISP services.
The Challenge
In order to modernize their computing environment and improve security, Client decided to migrate their workstations to a new Windows domain and perform a computer systems refresh. Client retained StratusPointIT to help move hundreds of computers at over 10 sites across the Unites States. To avoid downtime, the work needed to be done on off hours. The migration required narrow time frames and attention to detail, with no room for error. All of the work had to be completed before the next work-day in order to avoid any business interruption.
The Solution
After diligent tracking and precise planning, the StratusPointIT team reviewed the network architecture and inventoried the hardware and resources of each location. The StratusPointIT project team coordinated resources across different time zones and locations spanning vast geographies of the United States.
StratusPointIT team was able to deploy resources onsite, who worked with the client technical team to perform the migration and hardware refreshes.
The Results
The client expected that such upgrades and transitions have minimal impact on operations, even when they involved the coordination of many elements, each of which spelled the difference between failure and success. In this project, success was defined by accomplishing the hardware refresh and domain migration during off hours, with no interruption to the business. The StratusPointIT team, together with the client, achieved a positive result on this engagement – business users returned to work to find their new, modernized workstations, experienced to interruption to their work. The client’s IT team delivered the project to the senior management on time and on budget.
